Sometimes regular spoken theatre can leave you bewildered, not fully understanding what you see and hear. Take a break: watch a mime show and you’ll realise the power of silence. The artist makes audience members both young and old chuckle, smile and laugh heartily with his endearing mime, fascinating body language and physical expressions, all without the bother of speech.Mime artist Ulrich Gottlieb alias Herr Loop gives some impressive vignettes. The first is the “painting artist” in which an artist tries to paint a great work but fails repeatedly. The second is the heartfelt cinema”, where “Loop” mimics the idiosynchratic mannerism of movie-goers that we see in real life. The audience rocks with laughter when it witnesses his first experience with a 3D movie wearing a pair of 3D glasses.

Walk with Me
Mr Loop. A very excentric character turns the sidewalk into a catwalk. Everbody becomes a star for a few seconds! Silently like a shadow he follows the pedestrians exaggerating all their moves. And sometimes he is in the mood to be just one of the crowd. Outrageous minimalism. A dynamic street performance that is seriously funny!

born 1964, Mime, Physical Theatre performer, Taiji Quan Teacher, Author. Mime & Physical Theatre as Autodidact and trained by Werner Müller, Nürnberg & Hiro Uchiyama, Paris. Taiji Quan & Qigong trained by Lim Chee Choon, Penang/ Malaysia and Chen Liang Yao, Bangkok /Thailand. Member of the Penang Taiji Association. His work expands into the field of photography, video and painting.
